For almost sixty years, the Bologna Children's Book Fair has been the unmissable meeting place for the entire children's book community. Absolutely unique in the world, the Bologna Children’s Book Fair is a great cultural moment, but above all a global marketplace for the exchange of rights.
The Bologna Global Rights Exchange was born in March 2020 as a response to the pandemic that had made it necessary to cancel the physical fair. But from the very beginning it carried within itself a much larger project, the idea of being a useful tool for professionals in the publishing industry throughout the year, and not just a digital alter ego of the four days of the fair.
The jewel in the crown of the many digital activities that BCBF has put in place since March 2020, the GRE offers publishers the opportunity to do business with each other, but also to reach a much broader and more articulated target audience, in which different professions intersect but all linked to the exchange of rights.
Content reigns supreme and moves easily from books to other media and other products and so in 2021 the Bologna Licensing Trade Fair/Kids was integrated into the GRE platform. For 2022, BolognaBookPlus, the new general trade brand extension of BCBF has been integrated making the platform a wide reaching tool and accurately reflecting the business environment of the Fairs themselves. GRE is a 365 tool, giving all exhibitors the chance to use it outside of traditional Fair calendars.
